Russia Blocks UN Council Statement Against Gbagbo in Ivory Coast Election

The U.N. Security Council failed on Friday to agree to a statement backing Ivory Coast’s opposition presidential candidate Alassane Ouattara as the victor due to objections from Russia, U.N. diplomats said.

« There won’t be anything tonight, » a Western diplomat told Reuters on condition of anonymity. « We’re still working on it. »

Several diplomats said Russia objected to the idea of the council endorsing any candidate.

Poor Africa ! Everyday, they state to respect laws and democracy and when their interests are in jeopardy, they set fire and urge their local boys to create rebellion to overstep legal government. All that accompanied by an untrue press campaign for defame and to prepare the international community to accept their dirty work.
France and his president Sarkosy are blind before exactions, sequestrations, the drubbing of campaign organizers and the stuffing of the ballot boxes perpetrated by the rebels so that their candidate Allassane is president with the contempt of the rules of the democracy. Poor Africa !
